On Tuesday, October 16, 2026, through a partnership with Nicholas County Literacy Association and New Life Christian Academy (NLCA), Nicholas County Schools celebrated literacy by holding the county Literature Fair at the NLCA gymnasium. There was a total of 130 projects entered into 4 divisions and 12 categories.

Coordinator Dr. Sarah Lee explained the competition is very tight at the county fair. The projects really showed creative thinking and a deep appreciation for literature. There was a 3D model of the alien from Hail Mary, creative uses for dog treats, diorama of a shark attack, a welded cage, and even appearances of Michael Jackson and Willy Wonka with an Oompa Loompa!

Congratulations goes to all participating students; just participating makes you a winner! A huge thank you goes to all students who worked so hard to participate and to the special adults in their lives who made sure their students could have their project set up on Wednesday evening. An even bigger thank you goes to the volunteers that gave of their time to do an incredibly difficult job of serving as judges for these awesome projects.
