Parent Involvement Policy

Parent Involvement Protocol 

Gauley River Elementary School 

As required by Title I legislation, Gauley River Elementary School will provide the following opportunities for parent involvement, program planning and evaluation. 

Gauley River Elementary will: 

1. Devote one percent of Gauley River Elementary school’s total Title I allocation to support parent involvement. 

2. Hold an annual fall Open House addressing the school’s participation in Title I school-wide program. 

3. Offer flexible conferences for teachers and parents to meet. 

4. Have parent involvement in planning, review and improvement of the school’s Title I program. 

5. Offer parent conferences to inform parents of curriculum and forms of assessments. 

6. Report to parents the WV report card, students’ results on the Smarter Balance and WV Next Generation Standards, and school based assessments. 

7. Provide training and educational materials for home use with children. 

8. Provide timely response to parent suggestions through conferences, meetings, phone calls and written communication, etc. 

9. Provide parent volunteer opportunities. 

10. Require a Parent/Teacher/Student Contract. 

11. Provide special assistance for non-English speaking parents when needed. 

12. Provide opportunities for regular meetings to formulate suggestions, share experience with other parents, participate (as appropriate) in decisions relating to the education of their children. 

13. Provide parents with information, upon request, regarding the professional qualifications of classroom teachers. 

14. This policy is developed and approved in conjunction with the parent advisory committee.
