This is a reminder Nicholas County Schools will have a 2 hour early dismissal for students on Friday April 21, 2023 due to state mandated faculty senate.

Orders are due on April 13, 2023. Yearbooks should be delivered to the school in May. Order your copy now and pick them up at the school when they come in later this spring! The price is $15 for each yearbook.

Paying for school items just got easier! Sign up to get started today. SCHOOL CASH ONLINE All Nicholas County Schools now have an online payment option, effective February 1, 2023. Schools often have student fees or activities that require payment. Those payments can now be paid online. Fees such as field trips, spirit wear, activity fees, and more. It is no longer necessary to send cash or checks with students to school: now you can pay online from the comfort of your own home. Go to https://nicholascountyschools.schoolcashonline.com/ and click “Register”! After registering, please update your profile by adding your mailing address and students enrolled. The student’s WVEIS ID number and last name will be required. An email will be sent to you each time your child has been tagged as a possible participate which may require a fee.

Zela Elementary Spelling Bee will be held December 20 in the afternoon. Good luck to all 4th and 5th grade students competing for the chance to go on and compete at the county level in January!

Zela Elementary School will be hosting a WV Read Aloud orientation, tomorrow, October 5th at 9:00am.

Open House August 18 3:00PM-6:00PM We welcome parents to meet their child's teachers and kick of the new school year. Students are welcome too!

Student-Led Parent Teacher Conference March 22 2:30-5:00PM In a twist to the usual parent and teacher conference format, students will lead discussions about their learning in a conference with their parent and teacher. Please call the school at 304 872 1481 to schedule an appointment time if you would like participate. The third nine weeks grading period ends March 10, and report cards will be sent home by Friday March 18.

Dr. Suess Spirit Week Feb. 28 - March 5. We will be celebrating READING this week with a different theme each day!

Parents: Zela Elementary School is receiving a food donation from Bread of Life Food Pantry of 110 cases of Lunchables. Lunchables are a prepared meal kit, sold at most grocery stores. The shipment will be delivered this Thursday afternoon, and each student will receive a case of 16 to take home on the bus. This food product must be refrigerated. If you do not wish for your child to bring a case home, please contact the school. If you would like to have an additional case, please contact the school by noon this Thursday and we will distribute the remaining cases if available. The phone number at the school is 304 872 1481.

100th Day Spirit Week Themes January 31 through February 4 Monday: Western wear! Tuesday: Dress like you're 100! Wednesday: Ground Hog predictions...winter or spring apparel! Thursday: Dress like a rock star! Friday: 100 Days Brighter....wear bright colors!

Zela Elementary is proud to announce that we have partnered with the Buckskin Council to offer the Cub Scout program after school to all boys and girls at our school! Check our website for the schedule. We thank Mrs. Brown for leading our pack!

We welcome Angela Breedlove as our parent coordinator this school year! She has some great ideas for our school and we are excited about her parent and student services that will make our school better! She will be providing valuable information on this website and our Facebook page.
