It's the most wonderful time of the year! (to quote Andy Williams) And we need a little Christmas, right this very minute....... We all have our ups and downs and I realize that the holidays aren't that merry for those less fortunate or for those that have lost loved ones this time of the year. But Christmas is a time that people seem to be just a little nicer to each other than other times of the year. If that is indeed true, I wish the holiday season were a bit longer. For me personally, I recall the days of my childhood and the wonderful Christmas memories of being young and innocent that my parents provided. I hope that our kids today have that same experience, but I fear that we may try to grow them up too quickly and thus they miss the magic of Christmas. I would encourage parents to treasure these precious moments with your children and not to stress out over things that matter little. These times will pass quickly, and you will turn around someday and those little ones will have little ones of their own. Make this time count. As a wise man once told me, “As a grandparent you learn that the things that you thought were the big things weren't....and things that you thought were little things actually were the big things.” Like memories of a childhood Christmas, for example. Above all, always remember what Christmas is truly about...the birth of Jesus Christ, our Savior, and that wonderful story we so love to hear.
